I created a concept and visual materials for the noise pollution awareness campaign. This was my MA project back in 2017. I used the assistance of medical and university authorities to collect info about this issue.

I created the augmented reality animation attached to one of the banners. The idea was to make it more immersing and engaging for people in public space. I used the Zappar app to create it.

How can I listen to music safely?
At 60% of the maximum volume of the portable device. Even a slight change of 3 decibels makes our ears absorb only half of the acoustic energy. That means we can listen to the louder music twice as long.

How does noise affect my mind?
Noise evokes, among others, irritation and mood swings. If you tend to spend a lot of time in a noisy environment take some rest in a complete silence, then you will relax your ears and mind.

What is 'the background noise'?
These are the sounds that are not loud enough to hurt your ears, but so annoying that they negatively affect your well-being. Harmful level of noise is 65 dB. That's typical traffic in the city.

Is night-time noise harmful to me?
Long-term noise at night can lead to heart diseases, causes problems with concentration and feeling of constant fatigue. Even if it doesn't interrupt your sleep!

How do we react to noise all around us?
We tend to speak louder. It's so-called Lombard's effect and it occurs in many species, including birds and primate mammals. We start talking in the higher pitch, also it takes more time to properly pronounciate words during a conversation.
